http://www.nation.com.pk/daily/today/main/top6.htm LAHORE - Instead of taking any legal action against Muttahida Majlis Amal's train march, the Punjab government has sought Election Commission's intervention. According to reliable sources, the Punjab Government has written to the Election Commission that the march violates the code of conduct relating to election, therefore, action should be taken against these parties for violating the code of conduct. The Punjab government has also clarified that since election activities have not yet been started, as such this train march is illegal. Moreover, the railway line cannot be used for any protest. The Punjab government has also asked the Election Commission about the punishment for the deliberate violation of election laws and the code of conduct. On the other hand, the sources of the Punjab government say that MMA's train march has totally failed. The government has not put any hurdle despite the fact that the march is illegal and that the masses have totally rejected the people who initiated the train march. According to agencies who have reported about the train march opined that when the march started from Rawalpindi, it comprised from 100 to 125 workers including some leaders, when it reached Lahore the number of participants was from 500 to 600. |
