QUETTA: Scrutiny of women's papers completed

QUETTA - Provincial Election Commissioner Abdullah Khan on Wednesday completed the scrutiny of 44 nomination papers filed by women candidates for their 11 reserved seats in the Balochistan Assembly.

Sources stated that the provincial election commissioner, also the returning officer for reserved seats in the national and provincial assembly for women and minorities from Balochistan, scrutinized the papers in the presence of women candidates.

Twenty-six papers had been scrutinized the other day. Thus, total 70 papers were scrutinized during two days while two nomination were not considered as the candidates concerned were not present on the occasion.

Prominent women leaders whose nomination papers were scrutinized include: Shama Perveen Magsi of PML-Q, wife of ex-provincial chief minister Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi; Yasmeen Saifullah Peracha; Shumaila Hameedullah Peracha of PPP; Rehana Yahya Baloch of PML-Q; Robina Irfan of PML-Q; Robina Jabeen Butt of PML-N; Aisha Shah of JWP and Dr Sadiqa Sher Taran. The sources said the decision regarding acceptance and rejection of the papers would be announced on Sept 2.
