LAW MAKERS PLEADED THEIR CASES ABOUT FAKE/INVALID DEGREES

           Islamabad, the 20th December, 2010:-        The hearing regarding fake/invalid degrees of Senators, MNA’s and MPA’s was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khan, the Nominated Officer of Election Commission of Pakistan under the direction of Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Representative/focal Person of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Mr. Rahim Bux Channa was also present. The detail is as under:
 
           Khalifa Abdul Qayyum Khan, MPA (PK-64) appeared in person, associated with his counsel and clarified that his degree was issued by an institution that was not recognized by the HEC, about which he was unaware, therefore his degree should not be quoted as fake or bogus. The Committee advised him to submit written reply alongwith an affidavit on or before 28th December 2010.
 
            Mr. Bashir Ahmed Khan, MPA (PS-56) remained absent and the HEC informed that the Intermediate Certificate submitted by Mr. Bashir Ahmed Khan is fake. The Committee decided to close the case and submit it to the Hon’ble CEC.
 
            For Mr. Ghulam Dastagir Rajar, MNA (NA-235), his counsel Malik Shaukat Ali appeared and pleaded that the second degree submitted by his client was handed over to the HEC for verification. The focal person of HEC informed that reply in the matter is still awaited from Sindh University.
 
            For Mr. Mukhesh Kumar, MPA (PS-Reserved), his counsel Mr. Suresh Kumar appeared and pleaded that his client changed his surname in 2007 and rest of the particulars are correct as mentioned in the degree submitted by his client. He also contended that the reports submitted by the Controller of Examinations are malafide as the University has verified the degree of his client.  The Committee remarked that the written reply of his client is part of the record and the case is being submitted to the Hon’ble CEC.
 
            Mr. Masood Sarwar Tarar appeared on behalf of Ms. Afshan Farooq, MPA (PP-Reserved) and the Committee advised him to re-verify the degree of her client from the institution (Preston University) from where she has obtained the degree. The case has now been fixed for 28th December 2010. 

  
            For Mir Ahmedan Khan, MNA (NA-265), his representative Mr. Asif appeared and sought adjournment for submission of written reply. The Committee advised him to submit written reply alongwith affidavit upto 28th December 2010. 
 
            For Mr. Abdul Samad Akhunzada, MPA (PB-7), Baz Muhammad Kakar Advocate appeared and submitted power of attorney with interim reply with the request to adjourn the case for submission of detailed reply. The Committee advised him to submit reply alongwith affidavit upto 28th December 2010
 
            In the case of Molvi Haji Rozi Uddin, MNA (NA-262), a written request was received to the Committee for adjournment of the case. The Committee adjourned the case till 28th December 2010.  
 
 
            For Syed Muhammad Salman Mohsin, MNA (NA-165), his representative Mr. Zulfiqar appeared before the Committee and sought adjournment. The Committee advised him to submit reply alongwith affidavit up to 28th December 2010.


             For Nasim Nasir Khawaja MPA (PP-Reserved), her Counsel F.N. Lodhi appeared before the Committee and sought copies of the documents. The Committee made it clear to the Counsel that copies of relevant documents have already been provided to her client on 21-10-2010, however the Committee decided to provide documents required to the Counsel for defending the case and fixed 28th December 2010 as final date of hearing for submission of reply and affidavit.
 
             For Syeda Majida Zadi MPA, (PP-Reserved), Amir Saeed Rawn Advocate appeared and pleaded that the copy of degree available in the record does not relate to his client and submitted sanad issued in the year 2000 by Jamia Rizwia, Tanzeem-ul-Madaris, Multan. He pleaded that this degree was also attached with the nomination papers. The statement of counsel was recorded.
 
              Mr. Amir Saeed Rawn Advocate also appeared in the case of Ms. Samina Khawar Hayat, MPA (PP-Reserved) and requested for adjournment. The Committee fixed 28th December as final date of hearing for submission of reply and affidavit. 
 
            Raja Rizwan Abbasi Advocate appeared on behalf of Mr. Hayat Ullah Khan Tareen, MNA (NA-155) and sought adjournment for submission of written reply. The Committee fixed 28th December as next date of hearing.
